Anniversary
celebrations
look to the future
CHIEF SECRETARY Colonel
David Hinton and Territorial
Secretary for Women's Ministries Colonel Sylvia Hinton
led
the weekend meetings at the
culmination of the corps 125th anniversary year. They encouraged
the corps to take hold of the Holy Spirit within them to
move into the future to further engage
in mission.During the Saturday meeting, which featured the band, songsters and John Ashworth at the piano, the Chief Secretary outlined developments within the United Kingdom Territory.
Before the Sunday evening meeting a buffet was arranged for all the volunteers and managers of the Burton and Uttoxeter Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd shops. There is close co-operation between the Burton charity shop and the corps because a significant number of soldiers help in the shop. All the volunteers were knowledged by the presentation of certificates by the CS as a measure of appreciation.

There was also a warm welcome given to three new adherent members, who had their first introduction to the Army through fellowship trips. The trips are organised on a monthly basis and attract many non-Slvationists. - K. A.
